Grand Rapids Annual Celebration of Stories: Choose Hope

During our ASJ's  Annual Celebration of Stories, we reflected on the work of justice told through powerful stories centering on Honduran voices by ASJ co-founders Kurt Ver Beek, Jo Ann Van Engen, and Carlos Hernández. In addition, we heard one of ASJ Strong Families Mentors in Honduras, Julisa Reyes' story. We were inspired to choose hope this year as we collectively pursue the work of peace and justice in Honduras, the United States, and beyond.


We were blessed to share with all those who attended and are thankful for all the support.

With Latin American inspired dinners and desserts, we gather in both cities for a conversation featuring Kurt Ver Beek, Jo Ann Van Engen  (ASJ Co-Founders), and Hannah Applebach, ASJ-US Partnership Coordinator and reflected on the work of justice in Honduras over the past few years and together learned what it truly means to love fearlessly through powerful and inspiring stories.

They spoke about how corruption weakens government as well as its implications throughout the Americas. Hear from civil society leaders and researchers on what's being done to tackle corruption in Honduras and throughout Central America.

As part of the Evangelical Immigration Table's 2021 Evangelical Convening on Immigration, ASJ-Honduras staff member Luis Luna spoke on a panel about migration from Central America. Luis shared a Honduran perspective on immigration, explained root causes, and shared how ASJ is working to make Honduras a place where people can live safely and prosper at home.
