“How to Solve a Murder in Honduras,” a special series from AJS that tells the story of how criminal investigators, lawyers, police officers, psychologists, information analysts, and victims are working together to end violence in Honduras.
THE WITNESS. Chapter 1 in the “How to Solve a Murder in Honduras” Series. Brave witnesses are crucial to convicting murderers in Honduras. Some of these witnesses later become community informants, providing Peace and Justice staff with important information and insight about crime in their neighborhood, and helping to solve even more cases.
After Rosa’s husband was shot in front of her by two gang members, she found herself paralyzed by fear. But AJS psychological counseling led her towards healing, and empowered her to participate as a witness in the trial of the men who killed her husband. Rosa’s bravery helped AJS to achieve a conviction in the case. Now Rosa stays involved with AJS as a community informant, helping to keep her community safe for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
