Honduran activist Berta Cáceres tirelessly advocated for indigenous Lenca people and the environment. Her struggle for her community to be protected and treated with dignity in the face of exploitative energy projects led to her assassination in 2016. In the years since, her organization COPINH, ASJ, and many more civil society groups have advocated for justice in her case, leading to the conviction of one intellectual and seven material authors. Those who planned and paid for the crime are yet to be prosecuted. Berta’s investigations still have the potential to change the way companies and the Honduran government uphold the rights of indigenous communities.

Reflect: Who is a current advocate for justice who faces resistance and threats?
Act: Share a note of gratitude and support with someone who has inspired you to love beyond fear and live justly (maybe it’s the advocate you reflected on).
